LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - U2 will launch the fourth leg of its "PopMart" world tour in Rio deJaneiro Tuesday and will end the jaunt eight weeks later with the band’s first concert ever inSouth Africa.

After three dates in Brazil, the Irish rockers will play Argentina, Chile, Australia and Japan beforewrapping the tour in Johannesburg on March 21, the group’s publicist said Monday.

U2 kicked off "PopMart" in Las Vegas on April 25 and has played throughout North America andEurope, as well as in Mexico City and Tel Aviv. There are no plans at this stage for shows afterJohannesburg.

The other shows on this leg are in Sao Paulo (Jan. 30-31), Buenos Aires (Feb. 5-6), Santiago(Feb. 11), Perth (Feb. 17), Melbourne (Feb. 21), Brisbane (Feb. 25), Sydney (Feb. 27), Tokyo(March 5) and Osaka (March 11).
