DUBLIN, Ireland (Reuters) - Former Irish prime minister Charlie Haughey has been voted one of the country’s sexiest men at the age of 73, a local newspaper said Thursday.
Haughey, embroiled in a payments-to-politicians scandal, appeared beside actors Liam Neeson, Aidan Quinn and Gabriel Byrne, and film director Neil Jordan in a poll carried in Dublin’s Evening Herald.
Other politicians in the category ’sexy in the house’ — referring to the Dail or parliament — included Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy, and opposition leader Ruairi Quinn.
The line-up also included Larry Mullan[sic], drummer with pop group U2, and lead singer with “boy band’’ Boyzone, Ronan Keating.
The five female judges who compiled the list for a women’s magazine called Social & Personal identified “brains and a healthy bank balance’’ as two essential criteria for a really sexy man.
