U2 singer Bono’s newborn son has been named Elijah Bob Patricius Guggi Q Hewson, it has emerged.

Quincy Jones introduced the Irish star as “the father of a brand new baby boy, who had no name for seven days” at a NetAid press conference on Wednesday.

He then announced baby Elijah’s full name to the audience, adding: “My brother, Bono! That’s a big name for a little guy!”

The Q in the name is apparently a tribute to jazz legend Quincy, a long time friend of the singer.

Bob is rumoured to stand for folk legend Bob Dylan, while Guggi comes from the Virgin Prunes band member of the same name.

Elijah is Bono’s third child with his wife Ali. The couple already have two girls named Memphis Eve (8) and Jordan (10).
