From Launch: U2 Wraps Up Latest North American Tour This Weekend (11/29/01, 3 p.m. ET) — U2 wraps up the latest North American leg of itsElevation world tour this weekend, with shows Friday (November 30) inAtlanta, Saturday (December 1) in Tampa, and Sunday (December 2)in Miami, just down the road from Fort Lauderdale, where the tour openedon March 24.
U2 guitarist the Edge tells LAUNCH that the tour, supporting the Grammy-winning album All That You Can’t Leave Behind , has been exhaustingat times but enjoyable throughout. "I’m having the best time, as we all are," he says. "It’s been such a thrill toplay this album live and to kind of just see it going off in the way that it’sgone off. You know, the shows have been inspirational for us, and ouraudience seems to be completely into it as well, and it’s just great. It seemslike there’s a kind of love affair happening which I can’t remember this kindof intensity since probably the Joshua Tree period." U2 has no more concert dates scheduled after Sunday’s show, althoughthere are rumors that the band, which toured Europe this summer, mighthead to Japan, Australia, and South America in 2002. — Gary Graff, Detroit
