(EAMONN O’HANLON)
EVIDENCE is mounting that the next U2 album will be called Vertigo.
The name features in three web addresses registered last month on behalf of a multimedia company co-owned by Adam Clayton’s younger brother, Sebastian.
The company, Digital:CC, took similar action shortly before the release of U2’s last album, All That You Can’t Leave Behind. On that occasion it registered more than a dozen addresses or domain names including U2allthatyou-cantleavebehind.com and allthatyoucantleavebehind.com.
This time round they have gone for U2vertigo.com, U2vertigo.net, and U2vertigo.org. The domains were registered on June 22 by a James Cooke of Dublin. All point to nameservers at Digital:CC, which also hosts U2’s official website.
The long-awaited album is tipped for release this autumn, with some reports claiming the first single will be a track called Full Metal Jacket.Regine Moylett, U2’s publicity director in London, refused to confirm if Vertigo was the new album name, insisting it was “not yet known.”
