THEY may have packed out Croke Park three nights on the trot, but U2 are more likely to woo fans in the confines of their car. The Irish supergroup ranked third in a poll of favourite artists to sing along with while driving. The most popular star was Robbie Williams, while the runner-up was Ireland’s most elusive Hollywood visitor – Michael Jackson. The car is the location of choice for aspiring popstars, beating the shower and the loo as the favourite place to belt out a tune. More than 95pc of those surveyed said they loved singing along behind the wheel. Almost a third liked to flex their vocal cords when driving because they could sing as loud as they liked. Bono crowned ‘most influential’
U2 frontman Bono has topped a survey of the most influential pop stars of the last 25 years, commissioned to mark music channel MTV’s quarter-centenary.
MTV’s Rock Royalty artwork features what the channel considers to be the 15 most influential pop stars of the last 25 years, posing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Supermodel Christy Turlington has been given the Irish nickname Nuala by close friend U2 frontman Bono. The 37-year-old covergirl is married to Irish-American actor Ed Burns and makes regular trips to the European country to visit long term pal Bono, who gave her away at her wedding three years ago (03).
The pair even named their five-month-old son in tribute to the beauty’s nickname. Burns says, "In Ireland, our friends over there call her Nuala, short for Fionnuala. So when Finn came along we really named him after Fionnuala, or Christy." (c) World Entertainment News Network
