ARTIST TURNS U2 COURT BATTLE INTO A NEW PAINTING
Filed under: News & Rumors by U2Exiteer SPun2U Add commentsIrish artist KEVIN SHARKEY has turned U2’s court battle with a former stylist into a new art piece.
The Irish rockers took LOLA CASHMAN to court last year (06), claiming she had stolen items from the band while she was working as their style adviser in the 1980s.
The band alleged Cashman took a Stetson hat belonging to frontman BONO, earrings and clothing.
In a ruling in Dublin’s High Court last year (06), a judge decreed Cashman had taken the items without permission and ordered her to pay all resulting legal fees.
But Sharkey, a former Irish TV presenter, has turned the tables in his new artpiece, depicting Cashman as the victim.
He tells the Irish Independent newspaper, "For me, it is much more than just vying for the underdog. Lola was David to U2’s Goliath, she could never win." The painter plans to use some of the money from the sale of his work to help pay off the reportedly bankrupt Cashman’s legal bills.
