OSU to offer new course inspired by Bonos shirts

Ohio State students will soon be given the opportunity to know where their T-shirts were made.

Edun LIVE, a clothing company founded by Bono and his wife, Ali Hewson, will be rolling out a program at OSU beginning in the fall.

In conjunction with Edun LIVE, the department of consumer sciences is offering a course where students will learn about and discuss the ethical production and consumption of goods.

According to the Edun LIVE’s Web site, it is a socially conscious T-shirt distribution company that provides employment in sub-Saharan Africa. The company creates strictly blank T-shirts for wholesale distribution. The shirts are then customized and resold.

Sue Germein and her Adelaide family met BonoROCK star Bono’s life changed forever when he met passionate Australian nurse Sue Germein.

The U2 frontman has revealed that the Australian woman’s heartfelt commitment to social justice inspired him to become a champion against global poverty and the spread of AIDS.

“She was the woman that got me fired up about these issues,” said Bono.

“She had a huge impact on me. Her passion changed my life.”

The social worker and one of the world’s biggest rock stars met on a plane flight over Ethiopia in 1985. Read the rest of this story »

Fans of U2 will soon be able to watch previously unseen film of the band in rehearsal. The footage will be included in a forthcoming documentary by producer Daniel Lanois, titled "Here Is What Is". Lanois has co-produced a number of U2 albums, including "The Unforgettable Fire", "The Joshua Tree", "Achtung Baby" and "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb".

Apparently, the movie will attempt to highlight what goes on behind the closed doors of a recording studio. In a press release, Lanois said: "The mystery of the recording studio is what keeps me coming back. "Many rewards have come to me through this laboratory. It is my temple, my domain, my frustration and my love.

Celebrity duo splash £3 million on Bolton flats

CELEBRITY superstars Hollywood actor Colin Farrell and U2 drummer Larry Mullen have splashed out £3 million on a new apartment block in Bolton.

The bad-boy actor and the rock legend have jointly bought "The Anvil", a 26-apartment town centre development on the corner of Silverwell Lane and Clive Street.

LANOIS FILM TO FEATURE U2 REHEARSALS

U2 fans attending the Toronto Film Festival in Canada next month (Sep07) are in for a treat - producer DANIEL LANOIS’ new film, which is premiering at the event, features footage of the band rehearsing songs from their upcoming album.

In musical documentary Here Is What Is, the celebrated music mogul attempts to explain what makes him one of the best producers on the planet. The film also features appearances by Willie Nelson, Sinead O’Connor and former Roxy Music star Brian Eno.
