BOSTON - Latin pop star Gloria Estefan will deliver a graduation address at the Berklee College of Music’s commencement ceremony next month, the school said Wednesday.
The music school also will give honorary degrees to Estefan, her husband, Emilio, U2 guitarist The Edge and jazz pianist Andrew Hill.
Berklee spokesman Allen Bush said the musicians were chosen for honorary doctorates based on their achievements in music and contributions to American and international culture.
Gloria Estefan, who has sold 70 million albums worldwide and won fame as the leader of the Miami Sound Machine in the 1980s, will deliver her commencement speech to 850 graduates on May 12 in the 7,000-seat Agganis Arena.
Past recipients of honorary degrees from Berklee include Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Aretha Franklin, David Bowie and Bonnie Raitt.

Washington, April 7 (ANI): Actress Cate Blanchett and U2 rocker Bono are in talks with film producers to star in ‘Blood Brothers’, a planned film adaptation of Willy Russell’s hit stage play.
Director Alan Parker is desperately working to finalise an all star cast, so that he may secure funding for the movie.
‘The Evita’ filmmaker reckons that he will require at least 40 million for producing the movie at a massive scale.
"Our ambitions for it might be greater than the support we can get financially right now," Contactmusic quoted him as saying.
"Blood brothers is a cultural icon. We don’t want to make a little film - we prefer to make it properly or not at all," he added.

U2 memorabilia - including a pair of Bono’s trademark shades - will go on display in Dublin today.
Instruments, clothes and jewellery belonging to Ireland’s most famous sons will sit alongside items linked to some of the best-known names in rock music at the city’s Clarence Hotel.
The exhibition comes ahead of the Icons of Music auction in New York’s Time Square on April 16th-20th.
The collection of rock memorabilia is going on show in LA, Dublin and London ahead of the US sale.
The auction will include 200 lots holding memories of greats such as Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. The proceeds will boost the Music Rising campaign co-founded by The Edge to aid musicians of the Gulf Coast Region after the devastation of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
The exhibition comes days after U2 front man Bono accepted an honorary knighthood in a ceremony at British ambassador David Reddaway’s official residence in Dublin.

U2’s The Edge announced the Icons of Music Auction to benefit Music Rising on Saturday April 21st 2007 at Hard Rock Cafe New York in Times Square at 5pm.. The auction event will offer one of the most significant collections of music memorabilia from many of music’s greatest legends with proceeds benefiting Music Rising, a campaign co-founded by The Edge, producer Bob Ezrin and Gibson Guitar Chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz in 2005 to aid musicians of the Gulf Coast Region in regaining their livelihood after the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
The live and online auction, hosted by Julien’s Auctions, will be offering approximately 200 pieces of music memorabilia, much of which has been specifically donated for this cause.
Amongst the donations from The Edge is his 1975 Cream Gibson Les Paul (est. $60,000-80,000), an instrument highly significant to his career and U2. "I wanted that Steve Jones ‘Never Mind The Bollox’ sound, so I got the same guitar right down to the color. I never could get that sound, but I found a bunch of songs in this instrument, and have used it extensively ever since, on tour and in the studio," said The Edge.

The Edge confirms details
U2 have announced that they have begun work on their new album.
Guitarist The Edge says that the band are working with producer Rick Rubin on the follow up to 2004’s ‘How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’.
The Edge told Rolling Stone: "We’re working on new songs and getting lost in the music. I don’t think we’re going to try and think too much about what we’re going to do with it yet, we’re just going to do a lot of writing and just see what gives.
"We’re giving ourselves the luxury of just working on the songs. There’s some amazing things coming through."
