DUBLIN: On a February evening, with a cold wind funneling off the River Liffey and around the new construction lots of the Grand Canal Basin, shivering rock-music pilgrims from Spain sought out directions for Hanover Quay. They were searching the old Dublin dockyards for the recording studio of the Irish rock band U2.
U2 will be moving on in a few years. The band plans to relocate to the two top floors of a 35-story diamond- shaped residential tower that, if plans go well, will start to rise this year at the confluence of the Liffey, the River Dodder and the Grand Canal, on the southeastern perimeter of the docklands.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the POP album & POPmart we are featuring yet another POPmart concert:
U2 in Sarajevo: reconciliation for a few hours
SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina - What politicians and diplomats have failed to do for years, rock music
might well accomplish Tuesday: end the division of Bosnia, at least for a few hours.
Fans from all over the bitterly divided country flocked to Sarajevo to hear the Irish rock band U2 in concert -
the biggest spectacle the city has seen since the 1984 Winter Olympics.
The concert in the Kosevo Olympic stadium - rebuilt last year after suffering heavy damage during the 3-year
war - has, in its own way, accomplished miracles. About 45,000 people were expected to pack the stadium
for Tuesday night’s concert, which fulfills a pledge made by U2’s lead singer Bono when he spent the first
postwar New Year’s Eve with Sarajevans in December 1995, weeks after the war ended.

World renowned U2 front man and AIDS activist Bono recently encouraged churches in Oakland, Calif., and the Bay Area to address the rampant aids problem in the surrounding locale.

The singer met last Friday with clergy, non-profit groups and people infected with HIV at Allen Temple Baptist Church in East Oakland, noting the disproportionate amount of black people affected with AIDS in the region.
"We’re at the epicenter here in East Oakland of a new rise of the AIDS epidemic in the United States," Bono noted, according to the Kaiser Network, "But I’d also say we’re also at the epicenter of the resistance to that epidemic."

Bono, the U2 frontman who tried his hand at guest editing London’s Independent newspaper and France’s Libération, now will take on Vanity Fair.
Bono will be guest editor of the July issue of Vanity Fair, which will put aside some of its usual fare in favour of stories about Africa.
"Bono will make a different issue about Africa than we would," Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter told the New York Times.
"I think there isn’t one editor in the world who would not pay attention if Bono pulled up and said he wanted to edit a magazine."

ADAM Clayton and his Canadian fiancee Suzanne ‘Susie’ Smith have sadly gone their separate ways after what isdescribed by friends as "an amicable split".
The U2 bassist and his girlfriend, who is also in the music business, broke up last month on extremely good terms after more than eight great years together. They got engaged last year on Valentine’s Day at a private soiree in London where the couple spent a lot of time together. Susie was totally involved in Adam’s life and even appeared in the special episode of The Simpsons when the group guested.
