U2 - Electrical (Sand) Storm remix revisited

Filed under: Audio by U2Exiteer SPun2U No Comments »
"This beautiful song has a tempo of 96 BPM. So I had to time stretch it to a dance tempo. I stretched it 30%, to 137.5 BPM on my sampler. I used the William Orbit version of the song, because it features Bono’s vocals almost acapella for more than a minute.

"I made a new beat and added percussion. A new bass line and synth-lines were added to. I used filters and delays on some vocal and instrumental parts. Creating a catchy main melody is always the hardest part, so it seems. But I had fun making it, using sampled synth sounds and my MC 505." - DJ SandStorm

Thought we would repost this to the new news blog from the old site, just in case some of you might had missed it..

Bono’s coming, but don’t look under the Joshua tree

Filed under: Appearances by U2Exiteer SPun2U No Comments »

International activist/rock star Bono is in Oakland today to meet with African-American leaders about their community’s rampant HIV/AIDS problem, a visit the city’s congresswoman hopes will spotlight the disease’s toll.

But if you’re hoping to get a glimpse of him — well, good luck.

The U2 front man — recognized among Time magazine’s 2005 Persons of the Year for his work on issues of debt relief and HIV/AIDS, especially in Africa — will meet behind an East Oakland church’s closed doors at 9a.m. with local service providers and their clients and at 10a.m. with community religious leaders before holding a brief news conference.

The Dublin Docklands Development Authority has selected a shortlist of five companies to develop its U2 Tower

It has selected four Irish parties: Sean Mulryan’s Ballymore Properties, a consortium of Treasury Holdings and Sisk, Sean Dunne’s Mountbrook Homes and the River II partnership. The non-Irish developer on the shortlist is global construction company Royal BAM Group.

The 32-storey tower is located in the Grand Canal Dock area and is named after the Irish rock group because it will have a recording studio in one of the top storeys in the tower. The Docklands Authority will retain ownership of the tower.
