About: A little about me, I was bitten with the U2 obsession in 1991 with the release of Achtung Baby. Although I’ve known about U2 since the mid 80’s it wasn’t until the AB album that I was hooked. AB was the very first (and only) album that I had ever owned that I played straight through without hating a single song. I truly love every song on that album. Even today that album seems so fresh.
My online activities, I'm curator of several U2 related sites: U2exit.com, U2torrents.com, U2fansites.com, and U2radio.com. I've maintained a U2 fan site in some form since the late 1990's.See Authors Posts (2587) on Jul 4, 2008 in News & Rumors | Comments Off
A work of art owned by U2 has been sold for over £5 million at auction, according to reports. The piece by Jean-Michel Basquiat went under the hammer at the Contemporary Art Sale at Sothebys in London yesterday.
“Untitled (Pecho/Oreja)” was bought by the Irish rockers in New York 20 years ago and has since been on display in their Dublin recording studio.
A spokesman for the auction house said a private buyer had bid £5,081,250, considerably less than the record fee for the artist, which stands at £7.5 million. Basquiat died of a drugs overdose in 1988, a year before the piece was picked out by U2 bass player Adam Clayton.
