BONO, the Corrs and other celebrities gave nightclub king Robbie Fox the VIP treatment as he celebrated his 50th birthday in style.
The celebrations went on into the early hours yesterday at a surprise bash attended by about 150 friends.
The boss of Renards nightclub in Dublin’s South Frederick Street, who is known to patrons simply as Robbie, had been planning to be on the door of his club as usual following Ireland’s rugby victory.

MELBOURNE (Reuters) - U2 frontman Bono and rock band Pearl Jam performed a surprise duet on Friday at an open air concert on the sidelines of the Melbourne G20 summit, calling for an end to world poverty and kick-starting three days of protests.
Police have locked down parts of Australia’s second biggest city to stop protesters reaching the summit of finance ministers and central bankers taking place on Saturday and Sunday.

Pop star Kylie Minogue was joined on stage by U2 frontman Bono during the second night of her comeback tour.
They duetted on a version of the hit single Kids, which Minogue originally performed with Robbie Williams in 2000.
The pop star resumed her Showgirl world tour in Sydney on Friday. It had been postponed since she was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005.

HBO viewers can get a preview of the new late-night series hosted by Dave Stewart next month when BONO AND THE EDGE: OFF THE RECORD, spotlighting the singer and guitarist from U2, debuts FRIDAY, NOV. 24 (11:00 p.m.-midnight ET/PT). Featuring top music stars from a wide range of genres in intimate conversations, the show will reveal the stories behind their songs. The series will kick off its regular run in January.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - U2 frontman Bono has signed on as the first guest on musician/producer David A. Stewart’s upcoming music-themed interview show for HBO.
Described as "musicians on musicians," the show will feature the Eurythmics member interviewing fellow artists about their craft. One of the show’s producers, Jimmy Iovine, runs U2’s Interscope Records label.
The pay cable network has ordered six half-hour episodes of the show to air early next year.
U2 and punk rock trio Green Day performed several songs at the official reopening of the Superdome in New Orleans Monday, including a cover of the Skids’ "The Saints Are Coming," which was recorded to benefit musicians from the area ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Melbourne is set to host a free rock concert as part of the worldwide Make Poverty History campaign.
Organised by 19-year-old Dan Adams, the concert will feature performances from Eskimo Joe, Evermore, Sarah Blasko, Hilltop Hoods, Paul Kelly and John Butler Trio. Bono, who will be in town for two U2 concerts, will be asked to speak at the event, which takes place Friday November 17 at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

Irish rock band U2 headed the entertainment line-up at last night’s reopening of the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.
Performances by The Goo Goo Dolls and Green Day added to the hype.
It wasn’t the first performance for U2 at a football game in the Superdome.

Finally, New Orleans is ready for some football.
Performances by the Goo Goo Dolls, U2 and Green Day will help the city officially reopen the Louisiana Superdome before the Sept. 25 ESPN Monday Night football game between the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons.
The event — the first from the Superdome since Hurricane Katrina ravaged the building a year ago — will be featured live on ESPN’s "Monday Night Countdown," beginning at 7 p.m. ET.

The Saints — of football and rock and roll — are marching in.
It’s been more than a year since the New Orleans Saints played a game in the Louisiana Superdome, their home for nearly 30 NFL seasons. After Hurricane Katrina, the team was forced to play all its games on the road, while the stadium served as an impromptu — and controversial — camp for displaced residents. And so on Monday, when the Saints reopen the dome with a game against the Atlanta Falcons, they’ll receive a proper (and much deserved) homecoming tribute via two of the biggest rock bands on the planet.
