symbol indicates that a clip is in the real media format. In the future
other formats will be introduced.
You'll need to make sure you
have the latest free real player or a compatible player to watch and
listen to the media files on U2 Exit.
Help with Downloading
In most cases, it is unnecessary to take special step to
download media. Simply click on the link to play the media. However, some
users prefer to download local copies of audio or video content. These
end-users often contact us asking how they can download media, and save it
to a file. So we have placed this online guide to help answer some of
these questions.
What Is Downloading?
Streaming and
downloading are distinct processes.
Streaming
Streaming means that the media plays while it is
being transferred. When you stream audio or video, the server sends
you small portions of the data, which are held in a buffer. There is often
an initial waiting period, during which your player software may report
that it is "buffering". Once the first chunk of data is in your local
buffer, the stream begins playing. If all goes well, you can then play the
stream to the end, without further interruption. If there are connection
problems or other difficulties, play may stop, and the software reports
that it is again "buffering". As each chunk of the media is played, it is
discarded. One benefit of streaming is that you can determine if the media
is what you desire after only transferring a few seconds of it. It can be
disappointing to discover that the content is not right, after you
have endured a lengthy download process.
Downloading
Downloading refers to saving files from the Internet
onto a local storage disk. Usually, you must wait until a download is
complete in order to play the media. The advantage of downloading is that,
once you have a local copy, you can treat it like any file; store it for
long periods of time, copy it to different locations, distribute it to
others, even edit it.
Some files and servers only work as downloads; others
only work as streams.

or "the application program that created it could not be found"
(Macintosh). You may also receive a message like "unsupported media
type". To solve this, download players
- You lack the disk space to save the file, resulting
in a system error message. solution
Possible Solutions
- Bad Internet connection
Get a more reliable Internet Service Provider (ISP), or try again later.
- Host server down
Try again later. Just like you, Internet host sites have occasional
trouble.
- URL is a metafile
If your download completes very quickly, the file is small, and nothing
plays, chances are that you downloaded a metafile. Metafiles
often have extensions such as .RAM, .m3u, or .ASX. A metafile is like a
play list of one or more items, a text-like file that contains pointer
(s) to media file (s), but not the media itself.
- You lack the correct media player software
download the player you need.
- Lack of disk space
If you get a system error that reports insufficient disk space to save a
file, you must make room for the file. You can accomplish this by
backing up files on removable disks or by upgrading your storage. Always
back up (make an extra copy) of your files.
