in the bible things were called clean and unclean by God for health reasons,
God is not arbitrary. The church does not need to follow these guidelines
firstly because they were instructions for Israel, not the church which is a
different entity. Secondly we now know how to keep clean (soap,
sterilization, etc) for health care and also know what foods are safe to eat
and when. For instance we know not to eat old meat that wasn't in the freezer
becuase of the risk of food poisoning and at the same time know how to
preserve the food so it doesn't go bad.
Thank God for U2 who helped bring me to my christian faith over 12 years
ago now
