This was the question Def Leppard's singer Joe Elliott
was asked about two years ago as Def Leppard have yet
to make a Japanese release without a bonus track. He
said the reason for bonus tracks in Japan lied in the
sky high prices for cds in Japan. He says it's cheaper
for Japanese to buy imports than domestic cds, so they
add bonus tracks on domestic copies to make people buy
domestic copies rather than imports.
