WIREWORLD!

Just yesterday I was chatting with a buddy about U2 (amoung other
things). Shes a massive fan and reintroduced U2 to me in 1996. We were
talking about how long it takes her to "accept" (her exact word) a new
U2 album. It took her 5 years to accept Achtung. 5 days to accept
Pop....go figure.

Then I read someones post about how "its" about the music. As Im
reading that post im thinking about this conversation with my bud and I
realise that its not about the music much at all. Its about the way we
feel when we hear it.

My bud has been a fan since '84. She listened to the Joshua Tree like
1500 times in a row (without pause) when it was released. Still basking
in the glory that is JT (and R&H)....when Achtung was released she was
stunned (the polite way of putting it). So she didnt "connect" with the
music for a long time. Its the same with me (except I LOVE Achtung)....I
dont have fav albums/songs based on musical merit, its based on where I
am emotionally with the song. To say its about the music isnt accurate
at all.

Of course there wouldnt be this feeling without the music but
ultimately we wont remember the main guitar riff to ONE (or whatever).
We'll remember the way we felt when we heard it for the first time, for
the 100th time, and when we heard it live. There is something in it that
fills our soul.

Which is why (IMHO) some of us get lost in "all the rest of U2". Like
where they live, what they eat for breakfast (Lucky Charm cereal.....the
blue stars not the green clovers LOL), and their families. Were just
trying to secure a little piece of U2 soul, learn a little more about
our own.

And ANY comparisons of the tours is bogus (a polite way of putting
it). If you cant get emotional **BECAUSE** of the giant screen then I
dont think a barebones tour would bring out emotion in you either!

Oh one other thing.....U2 broke? Awww the poor babies only have like
100 million pounds instead of 200 mill. I have my doubts about U2
needing to take out a loan or anything in the near future. After all
they were just like announced as #8 in the Top Ten richest British
musicians list.

In my dream I was drowning in sorrows,
Keira.
P.S. Urgh I wish I could express myself better! All You Sydney ppl dont
forget about going to see "Sunday Bloody Sunday" on the 25th!
