Re: Stay (faraway, so close!) and City Of Angels

The garage band is, to my knowledge, just a
random band. the Angles in Wender's films are angels of comfort,
assistance, reassurance, help whatever, (unlike "City"'s angels who are
portrayed largely as angels of death).

+++I'm glad someone else notices this. I just saw the film City of
Angels and though it made me cry buckets I didn't care for it's
interpretation of angels. By boyfriend and I decided to rename it "City
of Nasty Angels". I saw both Stay... and Wings and I came away with a
much deeper feeling and sympathy towards the characters. I like the
theme of Angels wanting to be human and THAT's not what I had a problem
with. I too just didn't care for the blatant "go for the common
denominator" attitude of the film. Oh, one of my favorit lines in the
film (NOT!) is something like "We fit just right, you and me. We were
made for each other.." Eeegahds! Was this for virginal 16 year olds?
Someone should have warned me!
Heh heh. That's just my review: Thumbs... to the side hitchin' a ride
to another film and the only finger up is the one pickin' my nose out of
distraction...
