Humble Bono? Give me a break

Anyone who thinks Bono has ever been humble is crazy to the "nth degree" (If Rob uses that phrase
one more time I may go crazy)

Let's just go back a little before the Joshua Tree years, shall we. What lead singer proclaimed
very early on in their career that U2 is destined to be a band along the likes of The Who and The
Beatles? Why it was humble Bono of course. Forgive me for not having the exact quote -- but every
critic at the time agreed that it was a very arrogant statement -- while also showing tremendous
ambition.

You are not the lead singer of the world's biggest rock group without being arrogant. I'm sorry.
And Bono -- give me a break. Any rock star who feels that the public actually cares about what his
views on politics are and sets out to make a difference in the world through rock music -- has to be
arrogant. Has to believe that they are a cut above the rest.

There is nothing wrong with it -- there never has been. During the War tour, the JT, Zoo or
Popmart. I like arrogant Bono.

Adding a verse to a Bob Dylan song is arrogant. Waiving a white flag and asking legions of fans to
cheer along with you is arrogant. Etc., Etc, Etc. I'm not going to list any more examples
because the whole thing is ridiculous -- and I could go on and on and on. U2 is a historically
arrogant group -- and I wouldn't have it any other way.
