Someone (sorry, can't remember names from the file I had to download
from AOL) asked if any of us oldies (damn, that's depressing!) really
understoon the rave/dance/techno scene that U2 experimented with on
"Pop". I'll be honest: no, I don't think I do. Can you say "no decent
contemporary radio stations in town?" To my mind, the rise of classic
rock stations has been disastrous. It's keeping new stuff off of the
airwaves, and screwing all of the newer groups. Atlanta has a killer
contemporary radio station, and I really enjoy listening to it when I'm
there. But that's not that often. Birmingham is a small, conservative
market that's boring as hell. At one point we did have a good radio
station but the stupid fundamentalists drove it out of business.

Pax,
Patricia
