-- [ From: Patricia Hefner * EMC.Ver #2.5.3 ] --

There are many Americans who don't feel like labeling themselves simply
"Americans". We all came from somewhere else, excluding the Native
Americans. No, we don't live in those other countries, and we are not
immersed in their culture, to say the least. But some of us feel linked
, in some ways, with countries that our ancestors came from. In my case,
it's the arts--I am indeed of Irish descent! I have *never* supported
the IRA. It's very true that we don't understand the current situation
in Northern Ireland really well and tend to romanticize it. But
personally, I don't think bombs are particularly romantic, particularly
not in view of the recent atrocity in NI.

Pax,
Patricia.
