Who Will Be the Next U2?...an explanation!

Hey there fans..

OK, since I'm the one who started this whole "Who will be the next U2
thing", I just had to jump in with a clarification (and yes, some of you
already realized this). I NEVER SAID WHO WILL BE THE NEXT BAND TO SOUND
AND ACT EXACTLY LIKE U2! That's impossible because all great bands are
one of a kind. I was just asking who you thought the most influential
bands of the next decade might be (and maybe that means who will sell a
lot of albums, maybe not...as we all know, selling albums does not equal
quality and creativity)? Thank you for the fabulous and insightful
responses.
I must say, I'm rather surprised, though. Nearly all of you shyed away
from saying that an electronic or "dance" band would influence the world
in the coming years. Why is that? Personally, I think a hybrid band (for
example, U2's beautiful collision of styles on POP) could jump out from
the pack.
Ohh, one more thing I've wondered about for a long, long time...look
back over the last 30 or so years at the so called "biggest bands in the
world"...Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen,
The Police, REM, U2, etc...other than Madonna, where are all the
women??? In the next decade, maybe...

OK, enough thoughts for one day!
