Hey folks...just a quick detour from lurking....

Everyone who doesn't like the idea of a U2's greatest hits release, everyone
who thinks that U2 is "selling out" because they're releasing a greatest
hits, and everyone who's considering not being a U2 fan anymore because of
the greatest hits release--you all can just bite me.

Everyone who thinks the greatest hits release is a great idea, everyone who
thinks that this will enable U2 to reach even more people and earn new fans,
and everyone who views this not as a "selling out" but as a retrospective
look at some of what makes U2 one of the premier recording artists in the
world--you all can high-five me and COME RIGHT OVER HERE...you sly little
folks get it...congratulations!!!

Look...we all want more people to finally understand the passion we all feel
toward U2, right? So...what usually brings people to discover artists they
hadn't previously tried? That's right--a greatest hits package. It's a
greatest hits collection that usually gets people wanting more. So...why
not have a U2 greatest hits? Not only will it be a nice little package o'
goodies to add to your own collection but also it will get more people
trying out U2. And as for any talk about the "greatest hits" being their
swan song...let me tell you...there are artists out there who've released
multiple greatest hits releases who are still going strong (Billy Joel, as
mentioned earlier, is a GREAT example). Besides...maybe U2 will make it
worth their most impassioned fans' (aka our) while by perhaps throwing in a
couple ultra-rare remixes or something...maybe they could remix a couple or
more of their "greatest hits" and create a brand new song! Duran Duran (my
other musical passion) did it with their '89 "Decade" greatest hits release
(and just to let you know, they've released four more albums after that
compiliation).

So...how 'bout it, guys? Are we one with this? *giggle*...couldn't resist.
:)

Lots of love,

the Unforgettable Firedancer
