Here's my second post on the GH subject. My first was trying to see the
GH 3 in a positive light. I just want to add that I wish the album
titles would stay away from the term "Greatest Hits
Sure, people would right see through any other title, but it would be
a good effort at steering away from any implication of an end to the
pinnacle of their fruitful career. A title that simply implied a closed
chapter in a musical epic would be more befitting their "journey". In
addition, many of their best songs were never "hits" in for example, the
U.S., only in Europe, especially their earliest stuff. So, for this
reason as well, the term "hits" and it's rise and fall nuance doesn't
reflect the longstanding and steady place among our favorites where we
hold many of their lesser known songs like "A Sort of Homecoming"(live)
and "Sweetest Thing".
I have to admit, I can't think of any good titles at this time only
corny ones like "Fan Favorites", U2 Compilation Chapter I,II,III or U2
Propaganda Mission 1,2,3. :b But, anything would be better than the last
page finality of "Greatest Hits".
