is it really that bad?

I happily got on my computer to check my email and read WIRE today and
as I read through it, I just kept getting angrier and angrier. Whether
or not a GH album is in U2's best interests or our best interests, and
heck, whether or not there will even be one, there is NO reason to start
condemning people and cursing at them for expressing their opinions.
Sure, America (where I think most of us doing the screaming are from),
was founded on the basis of free speech, but there is a line where that
right becomes abused and many of us have stepped over the line.
I personally do feel that a GH album is not a bad thing at all. I have
many of them myself for several reasons. Some of them are of artists who
I have slight interest in getting to know but am just not sure where to
start and those GH albums have helped to give me a direction. Secondly,
about 5 years ago, my house burned down and I lost all of my records and
cds and rather then spending the money to replace every single one, I
bought some GH albums and am perfectly happy with them. Also, I made
some tapes (yes essentially my personal GH) over the summer to give to
my roommates to help broaden their experiences of my favorite band and
although they do now have a greater appreciation of U2, they are not
going to run out and buy 30 cds like I've got, so maybe another GH tape
or cd would perfect. So, amen, to Shannon, Heidi, and whoever else wrote
such wonderful emails to that effect.
However, I can easily see the point of view that GH albums are released
to further a dying career or just make money off of an already dead one
(I personally own a Bangles and a Crowded House GH and, did you know
that there is in fact, a Debbie Gibson GH album???), or whatever other
reasons have been considered for this to happen. But really, none of
this is under our control and there is really no reason to act childish
and start bad-mouthing each other over this.

dreaming of Larry in a Mentos commercial and waiting for a GH cd,
