Too late J, they're releasing an alternate version of 'Sweetest Thing'
from the JT sessions. I guess you'll have to settle for mortal legends.
Salome is another dart in the immortality balloon, similar to the
Beatles 'Ultra Rare Trax' boots.
Hardly clamor, simply a superior choice, reality is it's more than a
remote longshot in the forseeable future.
The Sweetest Thing alternate version and release of that song for radio
can only boost sales, I'm sure many diehards will buy the $10 disc for
that one track.
'Limited edition' is a relative term for the b-side disc, I'm sure
hundreds of thousands will be pressed.
As far as future 'from the vault' releases, you better get used to them,
Poly isn't going to wait 20+ years to release something that's already
in the can when millions can be made. Take a look at ICE magazine's
'From the Vaults' release list, every major 'name' artist has new
previously unreleased stuff released all the time.
U2 does hold some cards in terms of rights to the songs but recording
contract obligations mitigate that power.Their willingness to embrace a
3 disc best of trilogy is a precursor of things to come.

In the case of the Beatles, it took the bootleggers release of the first
4 volumes of the 'Ultra Trax' series to open the eyes of the legit
labels who initially offered poorly mastered inferior versions.

Will be interesting to see if the 'final' version of 'Sweetest Thing'
measures up the b-side version. Safe to say Bono's voice won't be as
soar.
