I have heard a couple ideas as to why this is.....but as far as Island is
concerned they have no idea why.
1) Wasnt this one of the songs that Bono lost the lyrics to? Didnt he say the
that the song was "lost" at one point? would be a good reason to keep it
'lost" on the best of album.
2) excerpt taken from "into the heart":
'October' captures U2 in a moment of supreme vulnerability, and is all the
more compelling as a result. There may indeed have been a bigger, more
complete song there to be written. But sometimes, as U2 would find again and
again, these things are best left to find a life of their own, and a meaning.
makes ya think a bit there eh? maybe they want for the buyers of this album to
find their own meaning as to why this song is hidden.
