Is anybody else getting annoyed at how people keep mistakenly referring to
the album as Greatest Hits? It's a BEST OF. . .and there's a difference
between the two. A GH collection implies that the tracks were selected not
by individual merit, but by single sales and radio play. Now THAT's blatant
commercialism. U2 decided that these tracks represent their best output in
the last decade. It's like Zooropa, a snapshot reflecting a period in the
band's life. Except this time the album covers an entire decade. A number
of the songs on the compilation, as has been pointed out previously, weren't
big hits at all. An attempt is even being made at giving the album it's own
flow by arranging the tracks non-chronologically. Who knows, it might even
work. . .
