I think that people are forgetting that the Best Of.. isn't really aimed
at us Wire folk, it is aimed at those people that we all know and love,
the ones who say, "Put All I Want Is You on!", "I love Pride!!", when
you are playing your U2 CD's, but don't proclaim that they are U2
megafans. I find that U2 have a huge base of admirers, those who may
not have any or all of the albums, but have a love of certain songs,
songs that reming them of that time and that place, being 16 years old,
the first love etc. and these people tend to be really passionate about
'their' song. I think this is really unique, and it gives me the added
advantage of knowing that the majority of people in the room will not
dislike the music outright, and that U2 have different meaning to
different people, but the groove is always positive and uplifting, and
those people tend to respect and admire them for that...this is a rare
and exceptional trait in music. Therefore, lets look at the best of
package as a bundle of joy for these fans who will probably appreciate
it more that us lot who never seem to be satisfied anyway!
We all know U2 will come out with a cracker of a new album next year, so
lets hold the 'its all over/sell out' shite for another decade at least
please..
