I don't understand why people my age are shocked by MM. For heaven's
sakes...we grew up with KISS, Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osburn among
others...I think that's one reason my kids didn't get into MM...I was
neither shocked nor did I object to him. I don't care for him much..but
I really don't pay all that much attention to him either. Fundies (and I
use that term with great affection..I used to be one) shouldn't be
scared of MM...Christanity has been around for 2000 years...a single
singer is not going to bring it down. Internal corruption, greed,
hypocrisy and loss of vision maybe...
I think that is one reason so many Christians are uncomfortable with
Bono..he refuses to be a hypocrite. He states what he believes and then
he also admits that he doesn't live up to his own ideals. There is no
veneer of respectability ...no pretense that he is something he is not.
In some Christian circles they think he should be an example and he
refuses to take the job...they also think you should show your happy
face to the world at all times and admit nothing. Bono admits he has
struggles and questions...and is open about everything. That shocks
some Christians but personally I find it rather refreshing.
