I know of two instances in series (the series thread has already been here,
I know, but I haven't posted them then):

1. In 'Quantum Leap': Sam wakes up in a train, newly wed, and tries to
figure out what's all about. Then Al exclaims: 'Of course, they shot down
U2!' and Sam asks horrified: 'What, the rock band?' It turns out it was U2
the plane. Considering that Quantum Leap is set in '98-'99...
2. In 'SeaQuest': The captain has this friend, the astronaut, who dies
eventually. But in an early appearance they argue about their youth and
their tastes in music, so the captain vows by U2 and the astronaut says
'U2? They're imitators! The Who now...' or something like this. If someone
recalls this dialogue better, let me know. Now the SeaQuest is set in 2025,
right?

But, of course, both series were made in the early '90s, so it figures.

Take care!
