Sandra Speeds in

World Entertainment News Network
19-SEP-98

(SEP. 19) WENN/P - SANDRA SPEEDS IN SPEED star
SANDRA BULLOCK jetted into Ireland yesterday (18SEPT98) -
after demanding a trip there.

Bullock is on a promotional tour for her new movie HOPE
FLOATS, and she told film bosses she wanted to stop off in
Dublin to party the night away.

She insisted that all promotional work for the movie be done from
Dublin, instead of London.

Bullock was accompanied by MEMPHIS BELLE star HARRY
CONNICK JR, her co-star in the movie. The actress visited Ireland
last year (97) with her now ex-boyfriend actor JASON PATRIC.

And she has insisted on staying in U2's luxury Clarence Hotel -
where she stayed with Patric on her last trip.

Sandra strolled around Dublin yesterday with a pal after having
lunch in the exclusive Merrion Hotel - now a favourite haunt of
THE SPICE GIRLS.

Last night (18SEP98) she hit the pubs and clubs in the trendy
Temple Bar area. The actress is due to fly out to Sydney, Australia
later today (19SEP98) for more promotional work. (IST/WN/RXT)
------------
So I'm partying and drinking at a local watering hole called "The
Crazy Horse"(no relation to Neil though...:( ), and I went up to the
DJ to request a song or two. Off to his side, guess, just guess what
I saw?

A CD with " The Sweetest Thing ('98) "! To steal a line from
Ric Flair, "WHOOOOOOOO!"

It's a bit slower as far as Bono's singing is concerned, and his
voice(obviously) is a bit lower as well. There was this strange...
well, not strange but different sort of (oh what do they call that
type of music....) Hrmm.....SCAT! Yeah, that's it! There was
this little scat thing at the end. The Edge's guitaring was more
pronounced than the original as well.

I'm not sure if what I heard is the single version or a remix...

U2 B-Sides Track Listing Leaks Out

U2's upcoming B-side compilation, which will be released as a
limited-edition double CD along with The Best of U2 Volume One
1980-1990 as well as on its own, looks to be nearing completion.

The sleuths at Undercover music news have posted the track
listing on the Internet. However, a spokesperson at Island Records
couldn't confirm or deny the report, but did say that an official
press release will be issued early next week.

The unconfirmed track listing for the B-side album is: "The
Three Sunrises," "Spanish Eyes," "Sweetest Thing," "Love Comes
Tumbling" (original version), "Bass Trap," "Dancing Barefoot,"
"Everlasting Love," "Unchained Melody," "Walk To the Water,"
"Hallelujah Here She Comes," "Silver and Gold," "Endless
Deep," "A Room At the Heartbreak Hotel," and "Trash, Trampoline,
and the Party Girl."

As previously reported in allstar, the B-side and greatest hits
albums are part of a three-album, $50 million deal that U2 secured
with Polygram Records last week.

>From Rolling Stone:

Even Better Than The Real Thing

In the name of another record.

Figure it'll take at least six months for U2 to count the fifty-million
simoleons the group raked when it signed a record deal calling
for the release of three "best of" albums. By then, U2 should be
ready to get back into the business of making music -- and more
money. When that happens, U2 will likely look to the producer
tandem that brought the Irish quartet many of its greatest hits during
the Eighties and early Nineties. Though nothing's written in stone,
last Saturday in Dublin the band took a preliminary meeting with Brian
Eno and Daniel Lanois, the two architects behind 1991's Achtung
Baby, 1988's The Joshua Tree and 1984's The Unforgettable Fire,
three of the band's biggest commercial successes. The pair also
teamed up for U2's experimental Zooropa (1993) and Eno last
worked on the equally-enigmatic Passengers:Original Soundtracks
1 (1995), which featured the producer and all members of U2. Last
year's commercial disappointment Pop was produced by Flood.

According to a source close to Lanois, the producers and U2 will
meet again some time next month to discuss possible recording
locations and recording times for the project. Right now Lanois is on
vacation and Eno is busy producing James' forthcoming album,
which should be completed by the end of November. A source
close to Eno says production on a new U2 album won't begin until
at least March.

"We imagine they'll work on it through next year," says the source
close to Eno, who added it could take them through the summer to
complete the album.

>From www.dvdresource.com:

U2 Popmart: Live from Mexico City

Slated for release on November 3 is the first U2 video in over
four years, the concert video to their Popmart tour, as captured
live in Mexico City, on Polygram Video.

DVD details are sketchy, although this was supposed to contain
a DD 5.1 mix and multi-angle content (something entirely possible
since the concert was filmed using 22 cameras). There are 24
songs total, and a lot of classic U2 material (from back before
stadium spectaculars were their norm). I can't wait to see this
one!
------------
Twenty-Eight Years ago, Jimi Hendrix passed away from a
Barbituate overdose.

For those of you who can't remember, U2 opened some of the
JT era concerts with Hendrix's "WoodStock" Star Spangled
Banner...

>From the home office in Dublin, Ireland:

Top Ten Reasons U2 are releasing three "Best of" albums:

10. Because releasing two is just silly
9. The mirrorball lemon needs redecorating
8. The Edge would like to paint his house chartreuse
7. So Propaganda can crank up its output to 2 issues per year
6. To encourage direct philosophical analysis between "Discotheque" and
"Party Girl"
5. To pay for a new personal trainer to work on Bono's gluteus maximus
4. More German bowling alleys!
3. Financing for their next tour: Lord of the Dance II
2. Adam is being paid in spoons
1. Lemons for everybody!
