On behalf of Amnesty International USA, I would like to thank all of you
for your generosity in contributing to our vital human rights programs.
Today I received your check, No. 367, for $2,178.66--twice last year's
donation! We are all very impressed and grateful for your efforts.
This
year, as many of you know, marks the 50th anniversary of the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights, the United Nations document that commits
participating countries to common standards of human rights.
This year Amnesty has been conducting a high profile campaign to promote
awareness of the UDHR, and adoption of it by all countries. Your
donations
are critical to these campaigns, and to the lives they will save, and
the
prisoners of conscience they will set free. We look forward to hosting
seven WIRE members at our second annual AI Media Spotlight Awards this
coming Monday, the 28th. I hope to have the chance to met all of them
there.
