Hello Wirelings,

I wanted to take some Wire space to thank Kristal and the rest of the
Parsons crew for making a Kansas gathering possible.

When I first arrived to Parsons (about 2 to 3 hours from my home), I was
a bit nervous. I'm normally not one to just go up to someone I don't
know and say hi. At first I was shy and didn't know what to say to
anyone, but there in the middle of the room was a beautiful display of
U2 memoribilia. Aaaaah, starting to feel a little more relaxed I had to
check it out. I'm a bit of a newbie, so when I meet a fan w/ a ton of
magazines, books, pictures and other collectables that have been
collected over the years I'm happy, because a lot of the the memoribilia
I've only heard about and have never seen.

Over to the left of the awesome table of goodies was the WIRE banner -
YES!!! I never thought I'd get the opportunity to take a good look at
it or even get a chance to sign it. There it was, in it's glory, I had
to take a few pics of that piece of U2 history. A banner that has seen
many lands and gone to many shows, the history behind it is wonderful.

The music was pumping, but I was still a little nervous. Aaaarrggh to
be shy can be so painful sometimes. I'm not one to just say, "Hi!!
How's it going?" Luckily Daniel saved the day for me, he's so easy
going and has a great way of telling stories. Thanks, Daniel for making
me feel at ease. I was able to talk a bit more after that and not feel
so apprehensive.

After that, I let down my barriers and wanted to hear all the stories
everyone shared. Kristal has some great stories, I was not intimadated
by her vast U2 knowledge and experiences. She was so willing to share
all of the memories, from stories, to albums, to everything. Thanks for
introducing me to "The Captive" soundtrack, now I want to buy it.

Did I mention the food? Doh!! I sure didn't. There is a lemon lover
in all of us and I think the Parsons Crew (do you mind me using that?)
covered the basics. From lemonade, to lemon drops, to lemon suckers it
was there. I, of course had the lemonade, great thirst quencher after a
long drive. Of course, it wasn't all about lemons, there was
sandwiches, chips (enough chips to feed an army), a cake (was the cake
lemon?) - oh I could go on and on, but I won't.

Keith, Kristal's bro, did a beautiful job designing a t shirt and mugs
for the great event. The mug is replacing my Saturn mug at work Keith,
thanks for creating something so cool.

And last but not least, thanks guys for the door prize. The '45 with
Larry on the cover is beautiful!!! I just love Larry.

Anways, thank you, Kristal, Eric, Keith, Lee and I'm sorry but I forgot
the persons name (bad w/ names) for taking the time, putting the effort
and making us feel at home in Parsons. I really, really appreciate it
and I hope to see you guys soon. It seemed like as soon as I was
getting to really know everyone, it was time to go home. : (

Kristen <------Happy she got to meet some cool U2 fans over the weekend.
