"Bono was drunk, and Edge was really funny."

Hi All :)

I've had a post fermenting in my mind for a while, figured, I'd just get it
out! What a switch from a year or so ago.... anyway.... I book & organize
performances for my campus coffeeshop, and last month I brought an Latin-
American musical trio named Laura Fuentes y Calicanto. Laura Fuentes, the
vocalist, sang all in Spanish but I managed to understand a lot of it, and
during one song, I realized she was singing about Victor Jara, the same man
mentioned in One Tree Hill ("Jara sang, his song a weapon / In the hands of
love / You know his blood still cries from the ground"). I mentioned this to
her afterwards and she was really interested in the fact that a European
artist would be singing about Latin American politics.

Then, for the same group that I do the coffeeshop thing for, I was helping out
at a lecture that Alison Stewart (former MTV News person, now on ABC, etc) was
giving, and when she was talking about her experiences with MTV, she mentioned
how she'd always wanted to interview U2. Afterwards I asked her if she'd
gotten to - she said she had, and that she remembered that "Bono was drunk,
and Edge was really funny." Hey, I just pass on what I hear ;)

Third item of business? Third Eye Blind played I Will Follow last Friday in
Chicago. I know this is not a new thing but I'd just like to say that it was
WONDERFUL :)

That's it. Until next year..... ;)
