Hi Marin and all U2 lovers !

Warning: this a NOT a flame, just ordinary comments. If Marin read
Wire since a few weeks, Marin surely noticed i'm a reasonable wireling ;-).

"Marin Buric" wrote as subject : >if u are real fan read this .........

Just notice this kind of sentence can hurt some fans (not me ;-D). What
is exactly a real fan ? Notice i don't need an answer, i just want point out
there is no definit answer to this question.

>I'm sitting here and reading and wandering are you all ok?
>you are so pittyful.

IMHO, this mailing list isn't made to judge people like you did, BUT
to share news and points of view.

>>"...lets wote for sw98 so it could be first next week on chart.."

>u2 isnt here to be voted and to be first on charts.
>i'm u2 fan and i dont want to be understanded wrong.
>they dont need to be first on chart. they dont have to be at chart at all.
>chart is for little girls screaming for spicegirls and such bends.

Just think to all people who aren't fans and need to hear songs on
charts to know a new album will be released (for instance). And it's the
same thing for all bands, not only U2. And don't forget the radios don't
pass songs who aren't on charts. So, every band need to have songs on
charts, even U2.

>i dont like when someone come to me and says "i'm u2 fan, i think sw98 is
>great song." or what ever "hitsong" he says.

What's the problem ? You can't bear someone can give its opinion on
a U2song ? You don't like hitsongs ? Well, it's your opinion, but you can
bear someone else can have a different one.

>it is known thing that best song on some album isnt single release. "hit
>songs" is for mases.

Not exactly IMHO. Hitsongs can be loved more easily by people who
aren't fans, that's all. And why single releases aren't the best songs ? And
do you really think Pop singles are hitsongs ? Just curious...

>i'm also a bit dissapointed by u2. they are going to release "best of". what
>they need money?

Maybe it's related with the sale of Polygram to Seagram ? BTW, we
already debated about this. Maybe you don't know this Best of release wasn't
an U2 idea but was suggested by the "compagny".

>but as first week of sale will have b-sides from 80, i
>forgive them. if they asked me i would tell them "release only b-sides".

Sure, because you're a fan and maybe you don't need to buy a Best of
with songs you already have on albums. But don't forget people who aren't
not fans. They are the main target of this sale IMHO. And the new album
expected for next year should be very different from the last ones, so maybe
this Best of is a kind of bridge between these ones and the new one. Just my
thoughts...

>who
>in the world needs u2 greatest hits? fans? no.

Sure, except for fans who are collectors. But you forget all people
who aren't fans and who will love to buy an album with only the best songs
of a band they like but don't love as much as fans.

>i would only say one more thing. i saw many mails with "......i have all
>bootlegs in the world.......bla bla

What ???? I never saw this ! Sure you misunderstood the messages or
will you send them to me (in private) ?

>i put mp3 on my site...........bla
>bla......."
>if u all think that if you have more bootlegs or better web site then each
>other

Where did you find these ideas ???? See above for my thought about this.

>then you are not real fans. real fans have u2 in heart and mind not on
>web or on 100 cd of live u2.

This word again...Can you give us your own meaning of what is a real
fan, please ? Very curious....
And explain to me why a fan who allows others fans to benefit from
his/hers songs (on mp3) is not a real fan ??? IMHO, one of the
characteristic of a fan is his strongly desire to share his/her passion with
everybody.

        In the name of LOVE

                                                Karine
