What you've described sounds to me as if the songs may have been
remastered from the original master recordings, like what they do for
the "gold disk" editions. If the old songs were in fact remixed, which I
recall edge saying he'd love to do, I think you'd hear a song that's
pretty different from the original, rather than just a richer sound.
It'd be pretty cool if they were newer versions of the old songs,
however, I love the new "New Year's Day" especially Bono's somewhat
different vocal.
