Hi, Wirelings!
I unfortunately missed the premiere of the ST video on Monday.
I've anxiously tuned into MTV and VH-1 every day this week trying to
catch a glimpse of the video. FINALLY, I saw the video this morning
at 8 o'clock on VH-1's Premiere Video program. I must agree with
those who believe that Bono is saying "I'm sorry" at the end of the
video. The phrase fits the video plot as well as the angelic prop
suspended above his head.
I'm taking a film class in college this semester, and I'm
learning about a bunch of filming techniques. I'd love to talk to the
director of this U2 video. Although I'm studying feature film
techniques in class, U2's new video appears to impliment the same
"point of view" editing used in some movies. Is it just me, or do you
(as the viewer) feel that Bono is singing directly to you? It's as if
the video viewer assumes the role of Ali Hewson. This is consistent
with the "point of view" editing technique that's used in the movies.
The viewer becomes a part of the movie/video. Just a thought!
"The Sweetest Thing" video was worth the wait! :)
