B.B. King and Puff Daddy Win Top Awards

(OCT. 15) WENN/P - B.B. KING AND PUFF DADDY WIN TOP AWARDS AT MOBO From
WENN correspondent DAN DAVIES in London Blues master B.B. KING received
a standing ovation when he took the stage to accept his Lifetime
Achievement award from U2 guitarist THE EDGE at the third MUSIC OF BLACK
ORIGIN awards last night (14OCT98).
The star studded evening, at London's Royal Albert Hall, boasted
performances from pregnant Spice Girl and host of the evening MEL B
along with ALL SAINTS, MAXWELL, ANOTHER LEVEL and PUFF DADDY.
Puff Daddy collected double honours when he walked away with the awards
for Best International Act and Outstanding Achievement.
British winners All Saints presented the Best Newcomer award to LYNDON
DAVID HALL and collected Best Video Award for their single UNDER THE
BRIDGE.
And Another Level were not surprised to win the Best Single Award for
their song FREAK ME.
Before the announcement they said, "We're just glad to be nominated and
we're nervous about performing, but we're quietly confident we'll score
an award. In fact, without a doubt."
After the ceremony MOBO organiser GHIZELA ROWE said of the ceremony,
"People have said it was the best black awards show ever staged - nobody
could imagine a black awards show could come this far. The performance's
were all electric."
