More artists release Greatest Hits before they release Rarities.
Also, you seem to be too biased for teh Joshua Tree era. Island is
actually releasing previously unreleased live tracks as the b-sides to
Sweetest Thing.

Hey, I like Red Hill Town so much (my favorite song probably), but
this would just amount to overkill to release three different
"unfinished versions."

Bono doesn't think so, bono knows so. Just because he doesn't release
an "infant" copy of the song doesn't mean that the infancy and
evolution is meaningless. They are all reflected in the "polished"
and finished product. And if you find the product too polished, you
an always go and listen to the live versions.

The verdict is that you are guilty of a gazillion counts of
selfishness. Just because you like the Joshua Tree so much, maybe you
will be the only one to benefit from such a 3 CD release. It won't
sell much and it realy won't please that much fans as a live album
would (only hardcore fans would be pleased with a 3 CD rarity
colection). 3 CDs of teh Joshua Tree? Most b-sides have been
released already! There are more hidden gems in the Pop sessions
since they hardly released any b-side. Maybe that should deserve a
closer look.

Speaking of a 3 CD set release from the JT era of songs in their
infancy, such desire seems untenable. If teh Achtung Baby Outtakes
ere released officially, I hardly think anyone would buy it. It's the
finished product that's best ..of course unless you have a prefernce
for eating your steak with the blood stil spilling out...
