U2's defining moment

Hi gang --

If I can interrupt the list with some U2 content ....

I'm real curious to get some replies and discussion on this. I hope at
least a few people will humor me.

What do you consider to be the most significant day or event in U2's career?

I asked this question for the past week on the @U2 web site. (The poll has
since changed, so there's no sense in trying to go vote now.) The poll
offered five choices:

1. Meeting Paul McGuinness
2. Signing with Island Records
3. Live Aid
4. Release of the Joshua Tree
5. Release/Debut of Achtung Baby/Zoo TV

I think you could make a legitimate argument for any one of those five as
being the event/day which has most shaped U2's career. I was surprised to
see #2 (signing with Island) finish last, with only 2% of the votes. I also
thought Live Aid would finish higher than 4th, but my wife thinks I'm nuts
for even listing it.

I think you could even throw several other days/events into the discussion,
too. (the "Dream It All Up Again" speech springs to mind immediately.)

But I'm curious ... what are you thoughts?

Thanks,
Matt
