Agreed. With all do respect it seems like there's an element of the
celebrity thing. The whole thing of following the band around, the
hotels and what not -- it's being a fan, but there also has to be some
degree of the "crush" thing. From what I've seen on Wire there hasn't
really been any guys following the band to the extent that *some* of
these gals have. Beatlemania (see the movie "A Hard Day's Night"),
NKOTN, Backstreet Boys -- there are groups that people develop
"crushes" on and follow them to a point beyond just the music.

Of course I'll be branded as something for these comments. Yet, if U2
were female who looked like <insert 4 babes here>, I might be doing
the same. I'm sure there are guys who follow around the Spice Girls
to no end. At the same time, some of the scariest "crushes" of celebs
tend to be men (the guy who claimed "Exit" aided him in killing
Rebecca Shaeffer(?) It cuts both ways with the sexes.

I'll admit to being jealous only seeing the Vegas Popmart, but there's
no desire on my part to go to the realms of *friendly* band stalking.
If I was female or perhaps gay I do wonder if I'd be reacting
differently.
