Gloria et al,

I see where you are coming from. But there is a big difference
between what happens with me & my friends, and what happened in the
Fallon passage that day.

1.) I always specifically request to *not* stay on the same floor as
the band. (They stay on a special, secured floor that I could very
well ask for and be granted because of the info my friends on their
crew give me, but I always request to *not* be put on that floor to
give them space.) The only real advantage to staying in the band
hotel is that you don't have to drive to another hotel in a strange
city at 4am. We never hang with them *in* the hotel, unless the band
asks us to. (Which has happened, because I've known Bono for almost
six years now - both from the tour, and from when I've lived in
Dublin and *he's* *seen* *me* on the street and come up to me!) But
it's not like because you stay in the hotel you get to sit on the
lobby couches with them. They have their own sanctuary within the
hotel, private lounges (which is the line those girls passed). I have
no desire to cross that line because they are all kind enough to me
(even Larry! LOL) elsewhere. And I wouldn't cross it even if they
weren't. If they weren't kind and receptive I wouldn't be there at
all.

2.) The girls he was moaning about stole from him! *Stole from
him!!* I've found his stuff a few times -- and given it back to him.
I've met Bono dozens and dozens of times. As I've said before, he's
telephoned me before, we've had coffee, we've had lunch, he invited
me to the Kitchen as his guest right after the club opened, he's hung
out with my 60-yr-old conservative *mother* and me before!

He's a nice man and I treat him nicely, as do my friends. And he
appreciates it - which is why he treats us nicely in return. There's
no problem in it anywhere, other than when some snot online somewhere
gets her/his nose bent out of shape about it.

Cheers -

In The Name Of Love, Patty
