you guys just don't get what a defining moment is...

I think a defining moment would have to be exactly what is is - a
moment in time - a "snapshot" of a certain point in time that will be
FOREVER etched in memories of the band. Thus, what single moment best
defines the band?

Signing with Eno or McGuiness isn't much because it involved only a
stroke of the pen. And if it is their whole collaboration with those
two, it is would cease to be a moment but would be a "defining
period/era."

Thus for me, the best defining moment would have to e a live
performance, or a concert speech of even one track of an album. I
can't think of any now. I just made this post to "direct" you all in
finding a better "defining moment."

Signing with Eno and McGuiness is too lame a choice for "deining
moment", it is better off being "the best move the band ever did."
Their collaboration with Eno is more like "the best creative period of
the band." They are definitely not defining moments.

So provisionally, I would pick "Live Aid", but as I said, you comments
are better than mine since you are all more knowledgable.

Cheers,

J
