YES!!! Sounds like we have been on the same muscial journey Aaron. I really
totally got into U2 in '92 with the release of AB. AB still blows me
away... Then the journey began for me. I bought all of U2's early releases.
Pre-JT, that is, I already had JT and R&H, as I liked U2's "hits" and was a
casual fan. After buying the early stuff, I loved the sound of those
uileann pipes on 'Tomorrow'. I realized that they were Irish pipes. So, I
started delving into my Irish roots, discovering in the process that I was
*Celtic*. Which led to purchasing books on Celtic culture, discovering
Celtic music. Around the same time, The Rankins, (a Canadian band from
Cape Breton) came out with "Fare The Well Love", I fell in love with
Celtic music completely then. This led to discovering Irish fiddle music,
Gaelic, etc. etc. I won't bore you anymore with my musical journey!

Aaaaaand, I'm not even touching on how much I found I related to this band
on other levels, politically, socially and religiously here!! Thank's to
U2, my eyes and heart have been opened in so many ways...I joined Amnesty
and Greenpeace, etc. You know how Bono wrote, "Don't believe rock 'n' roll
can really change the world." ?? Well, I hate to say this, but I think
he's wrong there, because U2's version of rock 'n' roll can and does....one
person at a time.... that chooses to listen, *really* listen and journey
down that musical road.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is how grateful I am to U2 for their
music, which in turn led me to my roots and the discovery that my very soul
is a Celtic one. U2 was the seed that grew to become such a wonderful
flower of discovery for me. For that, I cannot thank U2 enough. And, in
some way, I can't help but think that this was somehow meant to be for
me.....I dunno.

Anyone else out there been on the same road? Love to hear from you. Thanks
for the space to ramble on, guys. Hope I didn't bore the socks off ya!!

Faith, hope and LOVE,

Di/Gloria2

We rise again in the faces of our children,
we rise again in the voices of our song,
we rise again in the waves out on the ocean...
And then we rise again..." ~as sung by the Rankins~
