You know, sometimes I really wonder about this band and its collective
decision making.

Why in the world didn't they release the full Red Rocks show on video? Why
didn't they air the full show at least once on MTV or Showtime? Instead,
they broadcast partial shows on each channel with different songs aired in
each.

They put out a documentary from the Unf. Fire era that included live
footage from several European shows from the Fall of 1984, but, again, they
didn't include at least *one* full song whose video and audio came from the
same show. Instead, we get a hodge podge of video snippets edited together
which is noticeably out of synch with the live audio playing over it.
Meanwhile, all these full Unf. Fire shows gather dust in some vault
somewhere. Why they never released one full show from that era is beyond
me. It's a big gap in the band's documented history.

They filmed lots of shows from the JT era, but, again, no full show was
ever released. I guess they thought Rattle and Hum was more than enough. In
some sense it was, at least in terms of their saturation of the market at
that time. But for me, a real live footage junkie, Rattle and Hum was not
even close to being up to snuff, especially since they filmed several shows
during that Fall leg in '87 that might also have been released.

They filmed the New Year's show in Dublin in 1989. Released? Nope.

They released the Sydney Zoo show without 'Trying to Throw Your Arms Around
the World'? Was any reason ever given as to why it was left out? Nope.
It just seems to be an arbitrary decision, and possibly just an oversight.
Oops.

Now they're going to put out the Mexico Popmart show. This time, finally,
it appears they'll release a show in its entirety. Hey, that'd really be
terrific news if it weren't for the fact that I've already had it for
nearly a year. I feel like they've dropped the ball yet again.

Like I said, sometimes their decisions just don't make any sense--not to me
anyway.
