Wirelings...

Allow the smack to come forth from the old school. :)

It's me, Brad "formerly known as Sweet BaadAss" Grantham, and I dropped my old
email addy - so this is my new one. Seeing as how I have not posted since the
days after the monumental Seattle concert last year, I thought I would post.
(Especially after being encouraged too by one person...Hey Glor! ...cough
cough) This might become a lenghty post.

WIRE.

Years ago, in a galaxy far far away.... I stumbled upon WIRE in 1994. I had no
clue as to who "MacPhisto" was, and I probably could not even tell you the
names of the four lads from Dublin. I was nieve, and had no guidance to help
me on my quest for more sounds and thoughts on the band I had just come to
love, U2.

That is where the people part of this thing comes in. One of the first people
I met on here was a guy by the name of Dan Eliot. This guy pointed me to some
sites I might want to try out....and another person who helped out was
Michelle Perez. Both of you played a key role in helping me learn more about
the band, and myself, and I thank you.

The friends I have made through WIRE, well, I can't even begin to attempt to
put it into this post. One of the coolest things you'll ever experience is
posting a question, or a thought - and having numerous people respond to you
within minutes. You share the same passion, the same vision, and the same love
for the music. It's a groovy thing.

To this day - some of my best friends, and the people I trust the most, are
people I met on WIRE. People like Angie the Squirrel (You know her as the
Wire Tag Queen), Danielle *POP*Star, Sherry (U2isABLE), M2, Dan (don't light
that match) Eliot, Prarit "News Queen", Paul Andersen, Jason Hibbard, Elena,
Darci, Kelly, Deseree, Ken and Henry. I can not even begin to tell all of you
how much you have meant to me, and I would take to long to do so. A general
"thanks" can do the best. One of the coolest things you'll find out about
WIRE, or any other list, is that you keep meeting new people, with the same
passions and loves every day.

This may sound corny - but it's also a trip to be in a room with
Wirefolk...and laugh at the same jokes...or things. (U2....hah! you said
U2!.......that chic looks like MacPhisto on crack!...or.....It's a musical
journey...:) Allright...so I may be a sappy, sweet baadass. I think the
moments that you spend with the people who understand the U2 side of you are
the best. Period.

Smackdown.

We've all expressed our feelings on here. I tend to be more wild than others,
at times. I've expressed it all. From basically saying "Who give a fuuu? to
rambling on about me tearing down a field goal at the LSU/Florida game. (U2
content - I had my lemon shirt on......rotfl). I NOW feel that it is a sad
day when we all have to go to individual lists to express ourselves. I'm not
knocking other lists by any means. It's just that this place used to be the
shit. I would not be surprised if there is a U2 list out there dedicated to
Bono's hair, or Adam's willie. I don't think there is a way to go back, so
I'll stay on WIRE, as well as the others.

Best of U2.

I never really liked the idea of a Greatest Hits, if you will, by any band. To
me it symbols the end of a band. In this case, I think it might actually turn
the next generation on to U2. I think PopMart was an interesting experience -
you had the "older" fans from the War/UF/JT days, combined with the newer ones
- AB/ZOO/POP. I honestly feel that U2 has come into a new generation of fans,
and before blowing us away with their next album, this is a great way to say,
"this is what we have done, and where we come from", and the next album to say
"here we are now". I guess I'm for it now! :)

Well, I have rambled on more than enough. I had my hard drive crash last week,
so some of you guys who I haven't talked to in a while - drop me a line! Lay
the smack down! (shaking head). Anyhoo... to the people of WIRE, EXIT, ONE,
(your name here) You all ROCK. Period.

Best,

Brad

PS - My 2 underrated U2 songs...... SO CRUEL and VELVET DRESS. Wow. :)
PPS - If you use AOL AIM or ICQ - email me so I can put you on my list!
