Actually, from what I've read, they consider Zooropa a "major U2
release". It came to a point where they had to decide whether it was
going to be an EP or an album, and they decided they were going for a
major record because they had the momentum. So, if they think it's
major, then I guess a major U2 release does have Johnny Cash singing on
it. I also have a theory on that. I think the Wanderer was about Bono
and what he was trying to do with ZooTV. But since they were continuing
the tour he couldn't sing the song because it would ruin the mask he had
put on. Therefore, let Johnny Cash sing it, the quality songwriting's
still there, and Bono still hangs on to his insincerity.
