Wire -

Well I picked up my copy of the Mexico City "PopMart" video last week and
subjected one of my friends who has a video in their room to all 2hrs 7
mins when they are not really big U2 fans (I am slowly converting them to
my way of thinking). Anyway the video is great as when I saw them at
Wembley in '97 I couldn't really see the screen so to be able to see all
the images was cool. However some of the camera angles are a little shakey
and patchy in places, but who really gives a care about that. Also,
yesterday I was walking through the students union at my university and
picked up a copy of the show on CD bootleg from a trader. It cost 20, but
I don't really care as the quality is fantastic, due to the fact that it
was taken from the broadcast. It also includes the part of the show where
Bono get's angry with the fan with the laser pen, which strangely has been
cut from the video, does anyone know why they felt the need to do this ?
It seems strange as they have left in the bit where Bono is in the crowd
appealling to a fan for a smoke and then saying "asshole"........

The other thing I wanted to mention was the fact that so many people love
the new single. All I hear all day are people humming the loop or singing
the chorus. Normally U2 singles enter the chart high here in the UK, then
drop suddenly out of sight however "ST" entered at 3, went to 4 and is now
at 10. I think another plus point is that everybody thinks the video is
great and really suits the song. I just hope this can keep us all
satisfied until a release of new material in the near future - I'm already
suffering serious withdrawl symptoms.
