HELP!!! I need info on purchasing a CD Burner for my computer!

Hey Wire,
 I recently found out today that I will be recieving a CD Burner for the
computer for Christmas. Just one thing, I have to pick it out. This
poses a problem because Iknoe nothing about them! If possible, could
those of you with them mail me with answers to the following questions:

1)What is a fair price for a good cd burner? Where can I find them at a
price like this?

2)How much do nice blank CDr's cost?

3)When recording cd's, can thing like skip, warps, or other glitches
happen? If so, how can this be prevented?

4)Is it easy to learn how to use one? I'm interested in things like
compilation disks, bootlegs, and MP3's. Are these easy to do?

5)I own A LOT of U2 boots on tape. Is it possible to convert these to
CD? If so, what does it require? Can I seperate the tracks?

6)What type of sound quality do yopu get off of them?

7)Do they take up a lot of memory on the computer? I have WinAmp, what
else will I need?
